Today I expected to feel the classic rush of relief that only a high school junior would understand; when what seems like the hardest year of your life is finally over and summer break is like a breath of fresh air after drowning in work for 8 months straight. Except my rush was different, it was my last day of high school, ever, and I could have never imagined I would be saying that at the end of my junior year. It would be a travesty to even attempt to describe my emotions (elated, excited, scared, sad, bewildered, all of the above), so I won't. However, I do want to say I am ready for the adventure ahead of me, no matter what it brings. So this is the beginning of my life as an exchange student. In the next 46 days I will be attending Virginia Girl's State, going on vacation to Disney with my family (for the 6th time...), completing 3 online classes, writing multiple college essays, and visiting friends and family to say enough farewells to last 10 months. Wow. Wish me the best of luck, my next post may be live from Germany! Tschuss! Lainie Martin | "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." |
