This week at school was fine, nothing too new, except I luckily could switch out of my current English class into the 11th class. My Deutsch 7b teacher was absent this week so I learned how to play "Wer bin ich?" with my youngest host sister and her friends- glue a name to your forehead and ask questions to figure out who it is! I spent a lot of my free time studying for the ACT and even made chocolate chip cookies for my host family on Monday night. There are no chocolate chips in Germany but hand chopped Ritter Sport could do the job (deliciously, if I might add).
This Friday I learned a few key German words-
Schnupfen- a cold
Taschentuch- tissues
Bauchschmerzen- stomach ache
Kopfschmerzen- head ache
Halsschmerzen- sore throat
Oh how sad I was to learn these words, because, yes, that means I am feeling a little under the weather.
Despite the cold, today I managed to go out for a mountain bike ride with my host brother. Well... as it turns out, my limited experience (aka no experience) with a mountain bike was not helpful with this activity. My first fall happened 10 meters in and the second came as I struggled up a hill. I clung to the breaks with a force that gave my thumbs blisters and by the time we reached the house (a good 30 minutes later) I was covered in mud, scrapes, and smiles. It is impossible not to laugh at yourself in that situation! However, I think I'll stick to running this year.
Till next time! Tschuss
